# Coffee Pass

> How to buy and use a prepaid cup pass on petakopi.my

A coffee pass is a bundle of cups you pay for once — "30 cups, valid 30 days" — and then draw down over several visits. Your remaining cups live in the app, so you never have to keep count yourself.

<Info>You buy a pass at the counter, not through petakopi.my. Pay the shop however you normally would, and they issue the pass to you on the spot.</Info>

## Buying a pass

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ask the shop">
    Passes are offered per shop, so ask at the counter what they have. Pay however they normally accept payment.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Show your QR">
    On the app **Home** screen, tap your profile card to show your personal QR.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let them scan it">
    The shop scans your QR and issues the pass. A confirmation appears on your screen within a few seconds.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your QR expires after ten minutes for your safety. If the scan does not work, close it and open it again.

## Using your pass

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your passes">
    Your passes appear in the app with the cups you have left on each one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Flip the card">
    Tap the pass to flip it over and reveal its QR code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let the shop scan it">
    They scan it and deduct the cups you are using. The count on your screen drops as they do it, so you can check it there and then.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Every deduction is recorded. Open any pass to see its history — the date of each visit and how many cups were taken.

## Keeping track

Each pass shows its remaining cups and its expiry date. A pass can be in one of these states:

| Status    | What it means                                                        |
| --------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Active | Cups remaining, still within the validity period |
| Used up | You have redeemed every cup |
| Expired | The validity period ended; any unused cups can no longer be redeemed |
| Cancelled | The shop cancelled it, for example after a refund |

Expiry is counted from the day the pass was issued, not from first use. A 30-day pass issued on the 1st runs out at the end of the 30th whether or not you finished the cups.

## Common questions

**Can I use my pass at a different branch or shop?**
No. A pass works only at the shop that issued it.

**What happens to unused cups when a pass expires?**
They cannot be redeemed. Check the expiry date when you buy, and ask the shop what they can do if you are close to it.

**Does the pass go into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?**
No — passes stay in the petakopi.my app, where the remaining count is always up to date.

**Can someone else use my pass?**
Only if they have your phone. Redeeming needs the QR from your app, so nobody can spend your cups from their own device.

**What if my phone battery dies?**
The pass cannot be redeemed without showing its QR. It is safest to keep enough battery for the visit — your cups stay on the pass regardless and are still there next time.

**Can I get a refund?**
That is up to the shop. They can cancel a pass from their side, and they can reactivate it later if you change your mind.
